Life Is a Stage
I take a deep breath
And step out onto the stage
I'm just another actor
Escaping the shackles of shadows
To stand before the world
With my heart unfurled for all to see
I wear my soul on my sleeve
I'm a little road weary
And my voice has cracks
But here I stand undefeated
And unbroken
With the past laid to rest
I look above
The stage roof rolls aside
Blessing me with radiant sunlight
I've lived in negativity too long
But I'm too strong to mope forever
And my voice fills the hall
The cry of a warrior ready to spill his soul
And tell the world I'm ready
Give me the hardest struggles
And I'll overcome them
If I must be imperfect on the outside
I'll shine myself up on the inside
Until the world can't help but see my beauty
With tears rolling down my cheeks
And the memory of my grandmother held close
I'm on the road to recovery
And all roads lead to this very stage
Where I must sing my heart out
To leave my detractors no doubt
I may be another actor
But I'll be damned if I'll be forgotten
So I take a deep breath
And as my song reaches crescendo
I listen to the audience roar
And I'm lost in the euphoria
Until my song slows
The crowd hushes
And I take a bow
