Life Is a Joke

Since Lonnie’s death he has become increasingly un-socialized. He quit his job today, because he realizes the futility of it. It was never what he wanted, so why waste the time he has? Time is snatched away in an instant, his son taught him this. He wanders out of the restaurant holding their faux crystal goblet. No one follows him, if they had, he would have given it up. Life is a joke, he tells himself. It means nothing. He sits on the edge of traffic, lamenting his choices.
