eyes blinked
then fluttered
She was awake
We rushed over weeping tears of relief

Another family passed in the hall
Huddled as one
we noticed
they wept
too

As a midwife I have witnessed similar scenes Tim. The joy of birth and the grief of intrauterine death. Amazing poem depicting so much in so little words. Congratulations on your win.
