Life, A Chance For Living

I thought to climb the mountain
then thought
why any need for atop?

Could just stay in a valley
where, less chance of a smashing
flop!

And if I flew, some aircraft of sort --
passenger, better chance I could safely
have same view --

Nah! What the heck!

Break-a-leg, as they say in the theater

The captain may down with his ship

trapeze artist, chance a deadly slip

I will perish someday, anyway~ if

not by faulty rope, a bad performance, a
capsizing storm, or poorly timed flip --

If we think of the flip side of things, we won't be able to achieve anything or take up any daring act. We have to leave the comfort zone. Live any way shouldn't be our target, but live well should be our aim. I am sure, you are not serious here. Enjoyed your light hearted approach.

Yes, step out of one's comfort zones every now and then, but not jump out of a plane without a parachute, preferably one you took the time to examine and pack yourself. Most important, like you say, live well, serving God's greater purpose...taking as much of the guess work out of it as possible, by reading sacred texts and associating with positive people. Blessings my friend.

Go for it!!! As for me, the older I get, the less I go for it. ~ Numb

I Go for it, but, when I get there, I am starting to forget, where I started, and why the heck I hurried to where I am...-- mildly speaking, like, rushing into room...and then momentarily pausing to ask myself, now what was the all fired necessity? Oh yea! Good move.

Great way to look at things, and I believe personally that are fates are already written in stone!

I think you are right -- God knows everything, all beginnings and ends, all in His Divine Order Plan.

Hi Vie. Thank you. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Toss of the dice often. Many times just trusting on an indistinct impulse. Some might be inclined to suggest that, God took a chance on each one of us. Who knows? Have a great writing day my friend.

I was never one for the rush of adrenalin...wanted to live a full life, not a daring one. Anyway, I digress. Your poem gave me pause, thanks for sharing it, Sara

May live a longer life that way...but is it fuller? I don't know...just asking the question. I know people who are more cautious, not for fear of challenge, but have dependent family, whom they dearly love, that need them healthy and strong. Life is never entirely what it seems on the surface. Can be very complicated, as you know. I think, most people attempt to do what seems right, not always totally aware themselves as to rhyme and reason. Hindsight 20/20 as it is often said. Who knows?

Daredevils are in a class of their own. These words fill me with admiration, and with a message, "Don't be as nuts as those guys". A good poem.

Some common sense. Study, put heart and soul into it, and then take the leap. I had a girl student once, lost my concentration, she bent my nose with a good punch...so, I let the next student straighten it out. Only kidding; but I did straighten it out abruptly myself -- ouch! -- then went on with the lesson as if nothing was broken. No risk, no gain. Study, study, practice I constantly remind myself. Same with poetry. Poor formal education...but I keep at it. So grateful for Soup's patience:) Thank you. Blessings my friend.
