Letter To Him As He Sleeps

**Letter written to my son as he was sleeping when he was just a newborn.

Mouth slightly open,
you breathe in your
lullaby dreams and
sweet whispers of love.
By morning,
the peaceful sleep will be
wiped from your eyes, but
you will smile at the new day
and embrace it with
arms wide open.

You are not haunted
by the day's worries, or
acquainted with the ghosts
that fill your mother's eyes.
The light in your eyes
is so bright
and casts shadows upon
my own,
blanketing them,
quieting them,
giving me my own moments
of simple peace.

with no kids of my own....I still know that you are not wrong....because my nieces and nephews are so special to me....anyone who harms them deserves the last day they will see....and the Love you expressed....left me feeling so impressed....because the skill from your pen....must truly come from within....;)

I often wrote about my sons, although few of them survive. A few, like J&C, still remain, though those were penned during a difficult time.
