Letter To a Lover

I don’t know where you came from
or how you came into my world
and I don’t know how long you’ll stay
But I do know you have made all the difference in my world
I feel warm and alive again
You broke the blackened walls of ice surrounding me
and carried me from the cold
I will always remember these days we share
and the moments of intimacy we steal
I know that someday there may be a fork in the road
and I may choose one road, and you the other
But I will be satisfied that you walked with me that far
And if you remain with me, than my life will be all the richer

I don’t know where you came from
or how long you’ll stay
But I know that I can feel again and that my love
will stay with me for the rest of my life

Chris, such a beautiful love letter or it feels like lyrics to a love song.. enticing and heartfelt sentiments, lovingly expressed. Your love and your poetry shines!

Thanks so much Susan for your visit and kind words :) I am a songwriter as well as a poet, so your comment rings so true! I think many songs are just poetry put to music... they just seem to go hand in hand for me :) have great day C.H.

So which two animals have you portrayed, Chris. I enjoyed the beautiful words. I want to do a humorous one when I find some time. I can go on youtube to get ideas of animal love stories! OOPS< maybe this has nothing to do with the Love letter contest!! In that case, it is perfect as it is.

Yep...nothing to do with any contest sorry. Just something I wrote years ago when I first started seeing my husband. So great to hear from you, sorry I don't get much time in the soup. Although on the topic of animal love...I have a video on my phone of two horses licking each other's tongues!! silly stuff!...have great day :)

Heartfelt sentiments beautifully expressed. Reminds me of the best ballad lyrics. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for visiting Bernard, and for the wonderful comments :) Though this piece is not one of them, I do write songs as well...so when you said "best ballad lyrics" it was music to my ears! :) C.H.

Heh Tim :) Thanks so much for visiting, sorry it took me so long to reply. I am so busy sometimes, I don't get much time here. But thank you for your lovely comment, that means a lot coming from such a talented writer as yourself :)
