Let Us Not Say

Let us not say
what could have been
revisiting a limb
up high

that petite
racing hearts
of tiny little
birds alone

would dare
take leave
together, and fly --

let us not say
for fear of soaring
fear of falling
we never gave love
a try

let us not say
let us not say
a safe but sorry
firmly grounded
goodbye --

Wonderful, Joe! I like how I felt as I read verse 4.

Like you say, human, relatable poetry is best. Stuff that just makes one feel. Blessings my friend. Have a very blessed Easter.

We must be strong in our dealings with others and always forgiving.

Forgiving is the most difficult for most of us. Not to forgive, is to hurt oneself as much as the other. We then carry the hurt in our hearts. Thank you, Victor.

Hmmm... For me this poem is about the hesitation to pursue love and the deep regret that can come from choosing safety over vulnerability. It's quiet and reflective, almost like a whisper between two people who once stood on the edge of something beautiful but never quite leapt.

Thank you for delving deep into this one, Si; all about reflections, and what would have been had one made different decisions -- one will never know...and I often wonder, would things have been better or worse, life in general then had taken a major different direction...would one be the same, the same person he or she is today? Mystery of life, unable to revisit.

For sure, better to have tried and failed than never have tried at all -- I have learned much more of value from my failures than successes. Even if very painful. Thank you, Anne. Blessings.
