Shhh.... Let us listen to the sun go down........

Here, take my hand, don't say a word,
as the day says one last farewell
Evening shadows softly dwell, as purple fades to gray

Let us listen, ever closely, to what the moon will say

Hold my hand, and come with me
It will take your breath away

We can watch the sun kneel slowly, as if in evening prayer
The flowers folding petals, and birds tuck heads beneath their wings
The daytime weary creatures, have gone to nest and lair
While twilight paints it's canvas wide with brilliant crimson flair

Be witness to the fire that grows so vast and wide
Then listen very closely, to what the stars confide
It is all about us slipping, into realms of blissful sleeping
While twilight paints it's canvas, wide and sweeping

Let's be witness to the fire that smolders until it's gone
Time suspends this moment, in a fragile voice of song

We'll see the faintest trace of moon begin to climb
So gently, watch the dark erase the light
Enclosing us within the voice of night

Shh.... let us listen to the weary sun go down........

Listen ever closely, to what the moon will say
Listen, as this day must slip away

                                                               Shhhh…….

carrie, an EXCELLENT title for this wondrous poem of yours. This is HOW a pantoum was meant to be. Repeating lines meant to make us FEEL something. IN this case, the tranquility and beauty of this time of day. If this doesn't place high, there is no justice. LUv, Andrea

Truly a masterpiece of imagery, Carrie! And you worked so well with a form I find very difficult. How did you do it? I like the idea of not only watching, but "listening" to the sun going down. It seems to have sprung so smoothly from your pen. If this isn't a winner, I'll eat doo-doo and die. LOL Love, Carolyn
