- Let The Flowers Grow Again -

The sound of summer is about to subside.
Orange-brown butterflies in calm sailing flight,
with fine arches and rapid wing beats.
The admiral in parade uniform and magical wings.

     Autumn adjusts us,
we slip into the sleep of the dark ages.
The late-blooming flowers must also kneel.
Birth, growth, decay, aging and death.

     Swollen buds, sprout once more.
Floral splendor that soothes and heals.
Where silence lingers and time feels slow.
A farewell is melancholy, as dew in my hands.

Another cycle that follows nature's needs; a lovely poem that makes good use of imagery and emotions. ~ Best regards and hugs dear Anne-Lise // paul

Sadly here in the UK flowers will be fading away. Seasons come and go so fast, it won’t be long before the flowers grow back. Lovely poetry Anne-Lise…. Beryl

Anne-Lise, this is beautiful and feels like an accurate description of sights and feelings we might see and have if we are at all in tune with nature. A pleasure to read. Smiles!!

Even with rapid wing beats, so curiously silent! … we slip into the sleep of the dark ages… Very nice, Anne-Lise!

Seasons will come and go and the cycle rotates. With autumn and winter, flowers will fade and wither. But with spring, they will bloom again. Lovely poem dear Anne. All the best. love and hugs...

Dear Anne-Lise, this is striking. There is a plaintive voice throughout your magical lines - a voice of parting but also a voice of hope. So many wonderful lines I don't know which one to pick. There is such a sense of the rhythm of the timeless seasons. Best wishes for the contest. Hugs and blessings.

A splendid poem emerges where flowers dance in the crisp embrace of Autumn's breath. With imagery that dances like leaves in the autumn breeze, dear Anne-Lise, best wishes for the contest!

Splendid free verse poem on flowers especially in Autumn. There are some, not much true, flowers blooming in Autumn. In Malta we have the fragrant narcissus, the queen of autumn. Still loved your poem.
