Lest We Forget

Wars has been declared fighting in foreign lands, 1914 men and boys join the fight for king and country, "Over by christmas" it was said, Off they went with cheers and flags been waved .... most never to return, The experience of war was frightening they just wanted to go home, Shots rang out and bombs exploded leaving dead in its wake, The year rolled on to christmas eve, Men started to sing Carol's .... the other side joined in, Dawn broke on christmas morn, One man raised his head no shots rang out, One by one they left the trench on either side, For one day only the war was forgot, Playing football exchanging a present then back to the trench, 11.11.1918 war over and over 16 million dead, Called the war to end all wars let it never happen again. Rumbles started in 38 a dictator he wants to rule the world, War declared in 39 men and boys left once again, The words repeated "over by christmas", Blackouts went up lights went out panic reigned, Bombs where dropped ...... so many dead, Christmas came and went the war and years went on, 1945 the wars over and more than 70 million dead, That war brought terrible deeds it was hard to believe, Justice dealt to those involved. They faught so we could be free, The peoples war it was called let it be the last, They fought so we could be free, A WW3 will be the end of us all. Lest we forget
