Good wishes for my enemy contest

I may cringe when I feel the burdensome need to forgive someone for doing me an odious deed. But I cannot hide in dark aubergine shadows knowing it's a necessary step that I must take. It's a Bible based principle I must not forsake. I can't expect to be forgiven if I don't give pardon. It's not God's ire I seek or for His heart to harden against me. I'd wish an enemy no ill-will, nor find fault with his or her flaws, faults or railing. If I did, I'd be the one whose mercy is failing. Forgiveness is given only when words are spoken. It must be conveyed, not just thought as a token. For how could an enemy know of that lenient virtue if it remains unsaid, hidden in aubergine shadows? Act as Gideon did. Absolution you must disclose.

Hi Lin….forgiveness comes easy for me and l do not hold a grudge….but l don't always forget and with that l keep my distance and stay away from the negativity….life is way too short for angst, grudges and bitterness. I say my piece when needed and move on! Though at times l do get very disappointed and lose faith in humans due to the way some people act. A great poem Lin thought provoking my friend! Debx

I live by the, be the better person motto, not always easy to do but it relieves you of the burden of hate and mistrust. If it's an unforgivable act they have committed then just keep them at arms length. Best of luck Lin. Tom

Thank you, Tom. We're all fallible, and as imperfect humans we need to be forgiven for our faults and mistakes, too. You're correct in that it's not always easy to take the high road, but the better person does see it as a way of finding peace within him or herself.
