Leave Me, Let Me Sleep
The hour was late, I fell asleep
And dreamed of her again,
I care not for waking hours,
They fill my heart with pain.
In my dream I held her
Hopes I once had were stirred,
No disbelief, no tears,
No poignant final words.
Lost in my reverie
I caressed her golden hair,
Then as she turned to kiss me
I awakened, then despaired.
So begone you daylight hours
Leave me, let me sleep,
My days are long and empty,
I awake... remember... weep.
