Learning To Become Selfish

You know I won’t Let you or anyone Take me for granted Ever again I won’t give myself In blind naiveté To anyone Until proven worthy I’ve been refocusing Gathering my strength Setting new boundaries To ground myself and Protect my center Determine what I’m willing to give up My tendency is to Give all and keep nothing I can’t allow that again I’ve got to learn To be selfish As children are selfish I’ve got to learn to set free The child within me And think of me first AP: Honorable Mention 2023 Posted on November 11, 2017
