One of the best things to remember about the human animal is that it doesn't matter what you said, it's what the people who hear your words THINK they heard that counts.                             Make sure people understand what you are sayng because it's what they THINK they heard is what they will SAY YOU SAID.                                                                                                        Another good thing to remember is to be mature enough to admit when you've made a mistake. Only then can we use the past as a learning tool. Only then can we learn from our mistakes. Remember:    Try not to step in the same hole twice.  The first time you may twist an ankle.   The second time you might break a leg.

If I do this then this will happen.
That's the way it goes.
Though why some fail to learn this,
The Good Lord only knows.

Some people fail to understand,
There's right and then there's wrong.
When you go against the rules,
You sing a woeful song.

Certain rules cannot be bent.
Some things are just not done.
While you may think it's no big deal,
It can be a loaded gun.

It could be something that you said,
Or something you have done.
Perhaps a little bit of both,
That made things come undone.

Sometimes when we say things in jest,
Folks don't understand.
They think you mean the things you say,
And think you're less than grand.

We should learn to mind our manners,
And learn to curb our candor.
Don't be a fool, learn basic rules,
And we'll raise much less dander.

Err on the side of caution .
Don't let your manners go south.
Make sure you say just what you mean.
Keep your foot out of your mouth.

I disagree with the premise but still like the poem. Candor is hard to find. Lots of false words people say just to fit in. The sheep complex, I believe we are not made of glass. We are way strong. We can hold different opinions. And we should stop judging others...but look into our own problems. I don't baby talk anyone It's sickening. Ii wish for a world of. Truth telling, people never die from what we say, I am for raising dander in a sleeping world. Pangie xx

Oh words do tend to be a weapon, as do deeds. The whole world as changed Judy, So much so different for this old man. So please to read this gem of poetry. I'm sure there are many more folk out there that now see the world through different eyes

Oh my Aunt was famous for putting her foot in it - two things I remember, the first she said to one of our good clients, - you have a very handsome son, granted he was at least 20 years her junior, oh, she said actually John is my fiance! And the second time she called a man a womanizer in Greek to my Mom, and he was the Greek Ambassador for Pretoria. I wanted to climb under the table. Hugs and blessings Jennifer.

Your poem is full of great advice. We must be wary about our speech.

Thoughtfulness, considerateness and compassion for others should always rule our speech, Judy. Your fine poem is a model for verbal interactions. :)

Hello Judy … money and illegal drugs appear to be the largest economy’s in the world now and they’re becoming larger. It appears respect for our laws is no longer there - a very wise poem indeed Judy - Lindsay

Everyone should read this; many would grow from your poem's wisdom, Judy. I've noticed British men are more polite than others. My friend Jack takes care of his sick mother. I wish we could blast this message from the rooftops in each city. We really have to be careful what we say to people. All of us have feelings. Awesome write! A fave for me. Hugs, Carolyn
