'Mated Swans' by Lin Lane ~ 2017
Our three-fold cord was braided for strength
but it's unraveled and has come unbound
We are two idle hands of a timeless clock
that for too long have been left unwound
A pair of mute swans, swimming in circles
lost in confusion, neither uttering a sound
In the last days of winter the sky is gloomy
If the sun breaks through love may be found
