L'Amour De Soi

Her self esteam was so low
Her heart was covered in wrinkles
No I'm not gonna sugar coat this
I'm not gonna coat it in sprinkles
You think it was fun?
The fact that she spent most of her days on both knees
So that one day the man can kneel on one?
You think this is right?
The fact that every time she saw her complexion
Her skin was riddled with stripes?
This is real life.
Her self esteem was so low
That she took away the soil and water
So her confidence couldn't grow
Just for a strange man to come plant a seed of his own?
Not everyone gets a fairytale ending.
Not everyone gets the castle and no limit on their spending
Not everyone can think and see water bending
Not everyone has water, so they go to those that lending.
Her self esteem was so low
And so it seems
But maybe one day her confidence will catch one of those beams
Of light with a little soil and feed on some dreams
And might just blossom into a whole new she
Her confidence wasn't that low
No not anymore
And no matter how society tried
It refused to go back to the floor
Believe me, I don't mean to digress but
Her stripes went from zebra to tigress
self worth went from $10 to priceless
Who knew she could be so fierce?
Who knew?
