Lamlash

We fished off the pier in carefree days when girls wore tartan trews. In endless summer sun we’d laze when Tommy Steele was “Singing the Blues”. Now it’s saffron robes and no-take zones, maybe coffee in the cafe at the pier, replaced by ubiquitous mobile phones, like conversation, things just disappear.

Nice piece of nostalgia Peter, really enjoyed this one with good imagery too. As I'm Ayrshire bred at heart I know Arran fairly well. Have a great day, Gordon

I read, hear and see all you say Peter. What comes through in the first verse for me is that overall feeling of 'belongingness' and enjoyable interaction with the environment on holiday from a time long gone. This is juxtaposed in your second verse with a feeling of detatchment as it is today. I'm so glad that you used Lamlash (Isle of Arran) as your poem's title - It should trigger curiosity in readers to want to read your poem and find out more about the village. Great stuff! Cheers - Gary

The early days of adventure are gone. Much change has come over. Now mobiles phones are in vogue, pushing all human activities behind. We don't have even time to converse ! Well penned dear friend.
