Notes About The Poem

Laid To Rest

Tears no longer come, dried ducts of wrung emotion, denied one more drop of release. ... but only to feel Feel your finite presence beside me, inhaling your sweet scent to memory. Feel your heart pulsate through the calfskin of the despair that seals me in its snare. Rhythms of a hopeless eternity of love, not destined for us. Feel my heart bleeding for one more glimpse, of the exquisite life and love in your eyes. Shuttered now from a lifetime of shared souls. The pianist plays one last song, as tears fall upon your coffin. Won't you give me a sign, to show me the way to you. I wonder what has become of me, my soul a definition of despair, my mind a metaphor for insanity, my heart silenced by the loss of your call. Above, all I see are murky skies, even the stars hide from me. I'm sure the moon shed a tear, when the sun refused to shine on me. In the hope there is no tomorrow, I lay here with your photograph on my pillow. ... but time ticks so slowly.

Hi Silent, an excellent collaboration, two poets letting their emotions flow in golden ink. This is such a creative write and it brings tears to the eyes, well it does these eyes. I loved the content and this is a fave. Once again you use free verse to its full extent. An excellent collaboration Silent and Judith. Have a wonderful Friday, Your friend always....Mike.

A heartfelt collaboration Judith and Silent. My heart goes out to those who are suffering loss, especially to those who have lost family and friends in desasters as they wait for a miracle or closure. Very moving. : )

Wow. ‘In the hope there is no tomorrow’. Ouch. That hurts. There may well be one, but the pain does not allow it to show. This. is a wonderful, sad and heart touching poem. I must think about that concept of hope. Take care my friend, Kai

Some people believe ghosts are people so shocked by their death that they did not go "into the light" but research has established when sperm penetrates an egg a brilliant flash of light erupts, so perhaps "going into the light" is simply rebirth, i.e., there is no escape! Your loved one could be your next-door neighbour's new baby! Aloha! Rico

Silent One! You have dug deep into human nature beauty, love and pain! No love without pain, no beauty without love! Life in pain.. our solace the "sweet scent" of memories.. the mind "a metaphor for insanity" when harmony of loving souls exists no more.. when Nature weeps in grief! A great work of art in collaboration with fellow poet Judith.. achingly beautiful and impressive.. A FAV. Always a great pleasure to read what you ink of beauty. Best regards. Be blessed always.
