La Finestra By Giuseppe Abbati

Giuseppe Abbati did interiors in oil. The Window, open to outside, remains distressed With rough serrated edges, checked with voids. Time dried, these shrunken widths of planks have gapped apart. Its hinges must have closed some dismal weather out. Today it opens on a canopy of trees. This view is verdant green without a focal point. A critic might have said, “What is this painting of? Your composition needs a subject to present.” But paintings like some windows just bring in light and air.
