Knock
A man came to my door
knocked on it twice and waited
I open it, then hesitated
pondered the young man's fate.
He was attractive and handsome
soft spoken and sweet
wanted to know if he was on the right street
but the address he relaid
was two blocks away
and sad faced I became
as my anticipation waned.
He departed in a hurry
my years and age presented no worry
and as he left memories returned
of long lost youth with which I still yearned.
Wisdom is wasted on youth
old age enlightens those truths
recognition that time and age
are just another stage
where dreams still live
and each of us still have much to give.
