Knee Replacement Burglary

To endure such excruciating pain
  with no guarantee of gain
Reflecting upon the experience
  I must have been insane

More than five years later now
  I sometimes wonder 
how much happier I might be
  if I still had my God-given knee

Oh those darn knees, give me new ones if you please! At 59 mine are out of sorts. Years of playing too many sports. Torn tissue irritates me. Oh those darn knees, give me new ones if you please. Stinks getting old! Tee hee

It's definately something to think about, better before than after though. Sorry your replacement wasn't what you were hoping for Gershon. Be thankful for life and you gift of poetry, my friend. Bill

There is always a problem when we start installing "after market parts" Gershon. I have heard pro and con regarding replacement surgeries .... I'm in the only as a last resort camp....

Knee replacement is so common now, it is insanity if you ask me. I have had friends who express exactly what this poem has expressed.

Yes, you are right. So many knee replacements are off by a 1/4 inch or so -- and that's all it takes for some excruciating pain... Thanks, Caren

Here in India, knee replacement surgery is a common thing and it leaves miraculous effects for many... ! I am sure you are just joking ! If you hadn't done it, you had to have crawled on your knees. So God forbade it !

Sorry to say, what I wrote is no joke... If I had permitted it to, that surgery would have ruined my life. I've moved on now, and simply count my blessings... Sounds like medicine in India is a lot more advanced than here in the USA. The tales of knee and hip replacement woes and disasters here are legion. No kidding. :) gw

I can't answer that, gw. No one can, but think how much worse it might be now if you hadn't had the surgery. A new knee...whoopee! As arthritis plagues my right knee, I just need it scraped, not scrapped!

Don't worry. I've already 'thought.' And I know -- and everyone who knows me knows -- how much worse I became after the surgery. And this is not uncommon. Surgery should be absolutely the last resort. Never again for me. That's for sure. :)

Excellent rhythm though plunged in morbid pain! If not wrong, a bit ironical as sometimes the burglary even enhances the bitterest, can understand my mom had gone through the same plight...Silpika
