Kitty Dog
I had a cat named Kitty Dog.
His name derived from whence he came.
He lived on the roofs of a dog kennel
teasing them and sneaking their food.
Kitty Dog was quite the Manx,
solid white with bobbed tail.
No one knew from where he came
and no one ever inquired.
I wondered if his owners ever knew,
or cared, what had befallen him.
The kennel owners wanted to find him
a home since he vexed the dogs so.
His solid muscular profile showed off
his unusual angular lineage perfectly.
He was an excellent hunter and often
laid offerings of successful hunts.
Not so much a companion, but more
a comrade in arms, a warrior, a loyal liege.
Never lonely but nearly always alone,
he disappeared one day and I had to let him go.
