Kite

See I'm a kite, and I would love to soar.
But someone's keeping my string too short.

They say being low to the ground is safer.
And eventually it will lead to a better life and more paper.

But what if I don't want to stay close to the ground.
What if I want to take my chances in the sky with the birds and the telephone wires.
Finally attempting to reach the heights that I aspire.

Damn, I would love to fly.
But someone's still keeping my string too short.

I can relate to the yearning in this poem, Drew. A worthy use of the poetic device of personalization.
