Kissing For the Killing of Can'T -

Destinies departing from one another
like memories falling asleep as new experience births the extremes of Eternity,
striding past ourselves with fingers extended wildly
trying terribly to grab hold of knuckles with certainty buckling
as disbelief transforms into the unloving knowledge of impossibility,

in a recess of rules we defy the momentum of the Game's gravity
praying not with confusion in our eyes but for pardon of our happy prank,
we have laughter within the drums of our souls,

placing my thumb onto the corner of her mouth
getting closer to her voice,
kissing my Spartan girl
as though she were a secret sunset balancing just for me,
not knowing if I'll ever have another,
kissing just for the sake of kissing her,
kissing for the hatred of heartache, for the heroics of Hope,
kissing while betraying Time's insults of hurriedness -

J.A.B.

That last stanza was absolutely awesome, Justin. I'm sure it hit home.

Such a tingle of memories to feel all over again Justin; the kiss, the taste and the heartache are all that make life worthwhile but we need to trust and give of our inner selves if we dare to reach the pinnacle. Love,Lizzie

You are so right its frightning Lizzie - Love makes us vulnerable, but if we trust the right people it becomes an indestructable strength - thanks for the love Lizzie - J.A.B. %

My pleasure Linda - I really did want to appeal to the sense of touch in this write, and also to the virtue of gratitude - goods things require our attention or else they fly away all too soon - so glad this poem became so visceral for you my Sphinx - J.A.B. %

Indeed I agree Justin. To be equal would make us average. I would much rather be my own. A brand of unique in which no other could duplicate.

Delicious historical insight Jay - the Gods put men & women in positions where they must choose their talents and ambitions wisely no doubt - perhaps it is best not to be equal but rather to be unique - J.A.B. %

They are noble traits, tho it is important to also follow the ways of the Athens. Intellegent, well written, and having compassion. Each "God" and "Goddess" brought another trait to the table, and for such reasons Greece was split into islands, for imagine if all of those traits joined as one, then man would have found a way to be equal with the Gods.

Thanks Jay - In Spartan culture women were encouraged to be athletic, seductive through simple beauty, artistic and intellectual - to be be spartan by definition is to be tough, austere, and wise - what more could a guy hope for - J.A.B. %

Making sense out of life with someone you can trust, someone you need to touch, becomes more of a priority as my experience wisdom develops Jessica - and the people in our Pasts become more valuable as we age - J.A.B. %

Aha! Justin has written another marvelous poem! Once again, I am at loss for words. Eh, I'll think of something to write. Oh, yes. I loved it all. This one is just great, filled with such succulent metaphors. Forgive me for my frivolity and lack of ..things to say? haha ^_^ Take care, and I can't wait to read, (and re-read) more of your work. Always, Laura
