Poem written 10-01.24 thru 10.06.24

------------------------------------------------------------------------

My first test in what we shared too easy and too perfectly paired. The part of us that is immortal ran holding hands through a portal, quick to stumble and trespass upon a duplex that kept the blinds drawn. Your covenant before my time, had me pray for that exception of mine, but my ladder to Heaven with rungs of hope couldn’t bear the weight of sin—no matter the slope. So no from scripture to your mother, from every hand we were to suffer, fools bound in a tortured trust, nothing was going to change the unjust. Given the faith and a mind to discern, but my wicked heart still welcomes your memory's return. Its pulse echoes a buried refrain, the hook on the end of a chain will dangle this dream forever, a rearview horizon’s tether from our last day—these thirty years, ghosts recite testaments of tears, for it was only I or they, that cared. I never found again, that shared.

Such profound feeling and exquisite beauty—I adore it—an abundant expression of sincere poetry. True, holding on to precious memories of a departed loved one can have pros and cons. Best regards and thanks for your comment on my poem.

I am seeing your reply to me here below. Too bad you might not seek her out? Did she marry? It's very sad to think of what could have been.

I think her and her husband got back together for a while, but ended up divorcing. That was sad too, I liked her husband and got along with him. Don't know what happened after that. With my religious beliefs, she was off limits, thus, the test. And her mother did not approve - that was another test within the test. Sad yes, but as always, we are better off obeying God.

Dear Rob, I adore the depth of emotion and beauty here. A rich outpouring of heartfelt poetry. Indeed, cherished memories a lost loved one can be both a blessing and a curse. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Dear Rob, this thought tugs at my heart. ' the hook on the end of a chain will dangle this dream forever. ' There's so much love and dedication within. I'm so sorry for your loss, my dear friend. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

It was a real experience, ended just over 30 years ago. I used to think that I had found three soulmates, but maybe she was the only real one. All is going well with me and I will email you soon. Thank for you reading and commenting.

Can't remember which Dachshund I had when we spoke last. May have been Boo. He got old and it was time to say goodbye. I then had another named Echo, had her about a year and a half, but she got sent to Heaven this past April courtesy of a passing car. Current girl is named Seirra. Also have a chihuahua named Tango, and a Chiweenie I kept from Echo's liter, named Scrub.

Hi Rob. Being away for so long hasn't rusted your poetic skill. Love these lines... "Its pulse echoes a buried refrain/the hook on the end of a chain/ will dangle this dream forever/ a rearview horizon’s tether.' It is SO good to see you, and I second Jan's saying you've been missed. Somethings never change and some things get worse. you know... the beautiful people issue. ;-)
