Keeping the Peace

I totally disagree
Worse, I think she's an idiot.
I do not speak.
Keeping the peace.

I know he is wrong.
Completely misinformed.
I keep my wise ways to myself
So we can remain friendly

I smile when I hear their conversation
Which is borderline insanity
But leave the lunch room
Not adding to anyone's stress

They do not know my opinions
And feel no need to inquire or ask
It keeps us all happy
And it keeps the peace

When I come home after a day like this
I write them up into poems
Or I draw cartoons of their idiocy
Delighting myself, so I can be calm again tomorrow

I just love this. At first I was not sure that always keeping the peace was wise, but I realized that most of the time it is. Your last stanza was perfect. This poem was well-written and a bit whimsical, which I love.

Thank you Barbara. I am silent, but in my own way loud when I get home and alone.

This is so genuinely wise, Caren. I, on the other hand, can't keep my big mouth shut, so I generally tell others what I think and they can...take it or leave it. I still think it is healthier to get it out there, if possible, without upsetting too many people in the process. I try to be gentle in my disagreement. My brother, on the other hand, explodes when he disagrees with you. Next week will be most interesting while we are together in a car by ourselves! Pray for us!

I have to admit drawing them up into cartoons and letting dragoins gobble them up is totally satisfying.
