Keeper of the Flame - 2
As churches close their doors
Walking away from the penetrating grace
Reigning down on hearts and souls
Who know God’s love brings the fuel
To light the candle, the blazing flame
Of faith that will never go away
As people begin to lose their hope
Leaving the steadfast joy and peace
Felt by those who listen to His word
Preached by those who know He is
With us, within us, leading us to be
Guiding lights, salt of the earth
As tears fall silent against smooth skin
Weakening wills who have promised
Their praise of the Father who lives
Far away, in the heavens, where love grows
More alive, more potent, than it has
Ever been before – trickling gentle sobs
As shadows darken the brilliance
Of a light so alive, so tender and willing
To give the heart a part of God’s mercy
Filling up thoughts with His loveliness
Singing soft whispers of promises
There abides a spark, glowing like wildfire
As life takes us to new places, new dreams
There are pieces of our senses, our beliefs
Flickering, quiet embers – of prayers, faith
Believing that His light is always there, alive
Living within the spirit where He is a friend
The keeper of the flame – redemption’s gift
