When I think back... 
on my life so far,
the good and bad  
have shared equal time

Though ups and downs...
have been hard to face,
believing kept my faith alive

this evil world,
will try to break you down

foolish things,
to help to ease the pain,

I heard a chorus singing it and I felt each listener rise from mundane to be centered in faith. Did you mean to type, "and obey him him?" I'm thinking the keyboard got you, that you didn't intend to type 'him' twice. This is special, delicate and powerful, both. Poetry hugs ...
