Just One Brain Cell

I sit here at my computer
All fired up with thoughts a plenty
Check the list for the contests
Mind goes blank completely empty

See the forms that are asked for
Look them up to get it right
Thinking what have I let myself in for
Mind still a blank still can’t write

Then a light goes on in one brain cell
Murmurings start to waken my brain
Just one line will do I foretell
Brain says coffee might help the strain

Then the light goes on all over
Words start to tumble from my mind
In no time the poem is ended
Submitted and entered it when refined.

I wouldn't have written many of my poems if it weren't for contests. I am so glad so many others think like me to, it makes this place awesome.
