Heard the news? There's water on Mars. Let's send a spaceship to investigate. Maybe there's life up there who knows? They may need help from us great earthmen. We're great at giving help. What can I do but cry out my heart? I feel the pain, the anger, the hurt, the need. Do you blame me for cursing my planet? Are we fallen angels? Do we scream in the death of night? Or consider it just a dream, shrug off responsibility, judge these as mere horror tales, unreal, untrue. So many hungry people, so many homeless. Do we care? For they have not happened personally to us so far. But we need funds to go to Mars. Maybe there’s water there.

Dearest Victor your poem is a poignant blend of irony and heartfelt critique, beautifully capturing humanity's paradoxical priorities. It highlights our incredible potential for exploration and discovery, juxtaposed with our often-overlooked responsibilities here on Earth. A stirring call to realign our values. Powerful words my friend...Hugs

We are in a hopeless space in time, because individually our cry is but one that comes from the wilderness, but collectively we could spread our enthusiasm to mend our planet. How about we try. Love this write, BLESSINGS, Jennifer,

Well, sometimes some people get their values all mixed up. Start at home then reach out is the best way to handle things. Until home is handled there is no need to explore. I think some people feel that they need another planet to go to because this one is on its last leg, and they want to be one of the lucky few who get to establish new life on another planet. Thanks for sharing this one with us. Sara K

Victor, wise words, it's sad that we do not help more of the needy and spend millions on other priorities.

Great insights on the priority of the collective responsibility of all of mankind to share the pain of the poor and needy and offer a helping hand to them. Glad to read your thoughts. Hope you are doing good dear Victor. God bless. ~ Ani

Those last two lines in emphasis. Once man discovered there was more past the once thought boundary of the first heaven (our sky) we find the need to see what is out there. God lets us test our limits, but what of what we already have? One that makes you think. Hugs ~ Kim

Excellent poetry compares life in far-off places with Earth's poverty and homelessness against mankind's obsession with Mars. It favors space exploration but looks at human obligation and compassion for the less fortunate.

Maybe there is water on Mars, but I doubt the planet is as lovely as ours, till it’s totally ruined of course. There are some kind people in the world who try to help those who don’t have the means to help themselves, but then there’s those who do nothing at all. Well written Victor… Beryl

Space exploration is so very expensive. Of course man should be adventurous and inquisitive. He should have a scientific temperament too. But when there are hundreds of issues to be addressed and solved here, we cannot spare funds and time for space travel. Finance is the stumbling block... ! Why can't the govts allocate more funds for feeding the poor and providing them with basic necessities of a home and clean drinking water? Great thoughts, dear Victor.

I agree, Victor, that it seems to be a waste of money and resources to be looking in space for something else when we have problems at home that need to be solved first. Thanks for nice work about what is out there for us to try to solve. It seems that we have polluted earth so why go polluted another planet. Sara K

There is so much truth in your heartfelt poem, Victor. Yet, where there is life, there will always be a chance that kindness and good will prevail one day. Enjoyed reading this insightful verse. Best wishes.

I pray one day we can live on Mars and have fresh water there and most of all peace of body soul and mind, but knowing the creatures of habit that we are, we might blow it as we did on earth, still one can hope, :)

Hi Victor; i hear you. I ran a non-profit for many years. Homelessness, hunger, is lot more complicated than resources given. Fallen angels...no. Flawed human beings. No one gets to heaven and stays there, before all realize heaven. A thoughtful, intelligent, heartfelt read. Thank you.

I am reading your work after a long time. This, indeed, is a great irony and satire depicting the hypocritical attitude of the human beings. Beautiful.

Victor people have to realize that the government could care less about their citizens. They gave 61 billion dollars of your taxes to Ukraine. They have allowed the food industries to poison us through msg, and toxic chemicals in out foods. They are spraying us with toxins through chemtrails, they are putting fluoride in your water which is rat poison, vacinnating us with toxic vaccines that are killing and causing myocarditis to 33 percent of those who took it and counting.

They are taxing us to death. Killing us with all the pharma medications who's side affects are devastating. You can't trust the great majority of Politicians including Kamala, Biden, Trump, and Jd. They are all puppets and are bringing in the New World Order. People need to wake up, start doing serious research and depend on themselves and God not government to solve their problems. The homeless will never be taken care of they want to depopulate most of us the evidence is clear. I have been looking at the obituary section in the paper for three years and the amount of young people dying is unbelievable. The medical statisticians are saying based on deaths, that you have a 4050% chance of dying from the vaccine then from Covid.

Humans have done their best at destroying our planet, it's best if they leave other planets alone.
