June Bug

A june bug, flying at night, races to a window light To the greens behind the sill, fleeing from the twilight's chill But alas! The window is shut—no rest to find in this glass hut

So the poor bug got trapped. Very sad. Imprisonment is disheartening to both humans and animals. Enjoyed this beautifully rhyming poem, dear Vanaya.

Thanks for the kind comments, Valsa. Although the bug isn't imprisoned. It's trying to get in the house but is shut out. But hopefully they can find another house to stay at

This is a sweet slice of life, seeing the little bug trying to get into a place he cannot be. I enjoyed the internal rhyme in last line. Congrats.

Thanks for sponsoring this contest, Andrea. It's my first attempt at a sijo, and I thought the syllable per line was rather long, so I thought to give each lines internal rhymes to make it less rambly.

This is clever and delightful, gave me an enjoyable visual worthy of a grin, also, it has smooth word flow allowing coherent meaning in each line, sometimes that's refreshing, to me. I think you should do well in the contest, but no one ever really knows. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Me, too, my muse needs inspiration fixes constantly and if I don't procure them from Soup, well, who knows where she'll get her fixes, where she'll end up, I shudder to think!! Have a blessed day ... CayCay

Thank you so much CayCay. I did try to add rhymes to each line's caesuras to make everything flow better, glad you like it. And, yeah, no one really knows how a poetry contest might go. These days I participate more for the prompt inspiration anyway, haha.
