Happy Birthday
Terrace
overlooking golden fields
wavy hair of wheat
poppy red lips and
cheeks
bread and beauty
mix
sloping down
to an azurin sea
veil of diamonds
sunlit
trembling gown
a feast
autumn borrowed
splendor lit
yellow, red
orange fire
with what beauty
the sun retires.
Points of light
in darkness glide
fishermen
with catch
arrive
time to open
the champagne
bottle
golden, purple
berry flowers
float in bowl
of chocolate
wine
hidden in a
bouquet of white flowers
the bottle uncorks
a rocket fire
purple, red, yellow
sparkles
spelling:
Happy Birthday Darling
one to love you
year gone by
one to love you more
to come.
Laughter of friends
and hands clapping
singing and dancing
under the stars
on the terrace
overlooking the Mediterranean.
