Judgement
Who were they, that dared to judge me?
For they had not the purest of souls.
Yet in my innocence I was condemned.
Sentenced to carry through life
a burden that even they could not have imagined.
My pleas for justice (I thought) were unheard
but as I look around me
I smile, secretly, to myself.
For they
who had once sat so vainly upon their pedestals
mocking me (who was not like themselves)
must bow before the hands of fate.
Yes Fate, sweet Fate,
(how I bless thee Fate!)
who has unlocked the doors behind which
they had imprisoned my soul.
Dear, merciful Fate
who has lifted the stone of injustice from my being
(that had been cast so unfairly upon me)
so now my wounds may heal.
Now they must bear the weight
of their own injustice
and are bound by the chains
woven with their own cruelty
while I
am permitted to walk freely.
Note: This was written a number of years ago.
I posted it at my daughters request as this is
one of her favorites and she is a big part of my
cheering section to keep writing. RG
