At church, one summer day I met Jordan,
he was a boy quite wild and out of line;
Came back as a teen and let the Lord in,
and at eighteen was looking quite divine.
He helped out at Vacation Bible School,
and we became the very best of friends;
Jordan was calm, kind and followed each rule,
we were just like a couple of bookends.
Jordan came back years later, a teacher,
he was forty, married and had one child;
my old friend's big smile was his best feature,
and like Jordan, his son was a bit wild.
Friends come into our life and ever stay;
no matter where their long journey may stray.
