?In and around 1957/1958 Iived in a red and white corner house with my parents and brother. I took care of my brother about fifty-percent of the time. He was nine months older than I was, he was also blinded and retarded. Both parents worked in the day and afternoon Monday through Friday. In this from about Kindergarden to Sixth grade I missed alot of school to take care of my older brother. But this verse is not about this brother FOR Now... This is a verse about my other brother his name is JOHN FRANCIS LYONS he too was nine months older. He was Asian/Carcasion I'am African/American. We were not blood brothers Put in the times of racial disorder and unrest. We were so close that we didn't see it nor accept it. ?I never told him i loved him? ? He walked me to school on my first day when my mother had to work.He and his family introduced me to new foods. He was a possitive role model, we rode bikes, did model cars, collected and created and drew our own comics. Later in high school he was one of my Captain's in ROTC, he even taught me karate. As an adult he joined the Marine Corps. So from the sixties till late seventies I was with him daily.Later during this time he married his high school love and had a boy named Christopher. All of which now they'll all dead.In July of 1978 This is what happen WHILE traveling from USMC base inYuma Arizona toward Omaha to visit family on vacation. Marine Sgt. John F. Lyons 24, his wife Donnelda 23, 22month old son Christopher and fifteen year old niece Theresa Tyson. Stopped to help stranded motorists. John was ambushed and his family was placed in the stalled car and was driven off the road on to a service back road. Everyone was killed, shot dead just too get their car. The killers were Gary Tison his sons Donald Tison, Raymond Tison, Ricky Tison and Gary prison cell mate Randy Greenawalt. The sons of Gary broke out Gary and Randy and when on a killing spree. A total of seven murders. My brother gone, dead "died by the gun" His murder was a ABC-TV Stan Margulies 80's movie "A Killer IN THE FAMILY". I've wrttien two songs and this poem dedicated to John Francis Lyons he whom I NEVER TOLD HIM I LOVED HIM. True brotherly love is when it doesn't matter about skin color or your financial or soical status. Where have all the Johns gone, rest on my brother I love you JOHN FRANCIS LYONS.......
JOHN FRANCIS LYONS: A BROTHERS LOVE NEVER TOLD HIM THAT I LOVED HIM
I thank you John
For being there
You took me here
Took me there
You faired for me
I reverence you
But, I never told you I loved you
When races collided
We were besided, together
Like true brothers
You respected me
I respected you
You were the one who introduced me to
(pizza's, Chinese foods,)
I thank you John
For being there
You took me here
Took me there
You faired for me
I reverence you
In grade school you walked me there
First day of kindergarten you were there
We collected comic books, model cars and rockets
Role playing games before they were created
I never told him I loved him
He wasn't a friend, he was more than a friend
my brothers name was John Francis Lyons
But, I never told you I loved you
When races collided
We were besided, together
Like true brothers
You respected me
I respected you
I thank you
We were nine month apart
You were part of my heart
We represented what races should
Act
The different color of our skins
Didn't mean anything
During the times of racial discord and rioting
I had my brother John Francis Lyons
I thank you John
For being there
You took me here
Took me there
You faired for me
I reverence you
Please Lord I pray he's there
In heaven with you and his wife Donnelda
Their son Christopher and niece Theresa
I have already forgiven those men who killed them
The different color of our skins
Didn't mean anything
During the times of racial discord and rioting
We were nine month apart
You were part of my heart
We represented what races should
Act
I thank you John
For being there
You took me here
Took me there
You faired for me
I reverence you
I never told him I loved him
Yes we were of different fathers and mothers
were of a difference race and color
He wasn't a friend, he was more than a friend
my brothers name is John Francis Lyons
