Jerusalem

It can last, twelve centuries,
It would be time to milk the cows,
To sit around a table,
To fly marvellous kites
Above Palestine,

Jerusalem, was long an Egyptian,
Then Canaanite, with Jesus Christ
At last the Israelites came,

Should we believe the Bible? Solomon?
Should we believe David? Where?
I refer to Wikipedia,
Nostradamus here took the throne,
Then the Greeks settled here.

18

The History of Jerusalem, my friend
Wasn’t made in a day,
The Romans are renovating the city,
Where the New Testament begins,
but the Jews are stubborn,

Hadrien erected temples
To make the city pagan,
She even lost her name,

The city becomes a Holy City again,
from the seventh century,
Then Arabs settled,
it can last twelve centuries,
It’s time to milk the cows.

I do believe Jesus, without a doubt. I have experienced much. God is good.

I forgot to ask you if you believe in Revelations and that Jesus will reappear there? Did you ever go there? I had the good fortune to do a Bible tour of Israel in '74 as part of my semester abroad in Madrid. I even ate camel meat. Wish I had taken the trip later in life now that I have more knowledge about it.

What of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? Joseph and his brothers?... Long, long before any Christians or Muslims. Even David and Solomon preceded Romans, Greeks, Christians, Muslims, et al.

Yann, such rich history, religions, which by the way were the same beliefs up to a certain point in the Bible, but God should be a loving God shouldn't He? if a believer, our choice, which is all we have , I can't imagine choice, being taken away, like in some lands, we must keep fighting for freedom, more so, leaders that keep us from war with other nations, not start forever wars. Lovely poem, one of your best my poet friend. Merci beaucoup for sharing. 🇮🇱 🇨🇵 🇮🇷 🇺🇸 🗽

You have beautifully illustrated quite a few historical details about Jerusalem. While visiting Holy Land, we went to Egypt, Jerusalem and lsrael. A lovely poem, perhaps one of your best, dear Yaan.👍

Maybe time to milk the goats as well. What a powder keg that entire region is. Time will only tell what is to happen there.

Yann, your poem creatively explores the significance of the heart, likening it to a powerhouse and a magic casket. The vivid imagery and metaphorical language effectively convey the heart's essential role. Very-well crafted
