January

Just in time for annal's first
Anthem of recovery from decadence
Nonsense summer shed, duty toes
Unencumbered line forward, pale impaled
Arctic abyss shrouds frozen flame
Regrets only as almost good intentions
Yields to hibernation of resolve.

Elegant and thoughtful. I particularly like the final line. Well written, Michelle.

This is such a profound, phrase-rich write. Everyone should be competing for 2nd place, except me. (What I've written is a lock for the booby prize, no doubt about it). Happy 2019, Michelle! ~ gw

You can visit my site, as I actually have no intention of entering the poem, Be Wary of January, in the contest. I just was in 'a mood' earlier today and decided to let January have it. It's uncontestable that the poem is not contest-worthy in any way, shape or form. :) gw
