Jaded

Once I saw the flowers but now I see the bee’s, each purple velvet petal does stir up deep unease and the fragrant winds cannot make their way to noses such as these, the welt of one experience is not lesson but disease. I used to wait for joy but now anticipate the pain, each time that we depart I believe you’ll never come again, the fear it takes to lay each brick will drive a man insane, hearts that need umbrellas; preparation for rain. My glass was brimming over but now I count each drip that sadly slides away to show me all I’ve missed and you’ll never see such mourning for a microscopic bit, happiness is shadowed, the dark will not submit.
