Ive Worn No Cape
I’ve Worn No Cape

Now that coziness is gone,
I view my past as a changing story filled with memories.
Most have the lifespan of a shared kiss
From a face I no longer recognize.
Others became a memory that’s flown from existence;
I can’t enumerate the sidewalk cracks I’ve stepped over
That caused stumble but nary a fall.
I’ve allowed words to betray my thoughts,
For once spoken they became whispers in the breeze,
Blowing like crumpled paper
Before coming to rest in winters dead grass.
