I'Ve Never Seen So Many

In loving memory of my dear son
he died less than a year ago
Suddenly in the blink of an eye
he went too soon aged 49
My boy he was my only child
a gentle giant of six foot three
and truly loved by all and yet
his self-esteem so often low
I'm sure he would have thought
upon that day when laid to rest
no one would come
why ever would they
but come they did
from far and wide
they came for him
with their goodbyes
I’ve never seen so many...

I miss his daily phone calls
to tell me that he loved me
and saying how he spent his day
in his own inimitable way
I miss his great big bear hugs
just like a cashmere shawl

But now he’s gone
I’m all alone
with no one here at all…

This is so heartfelt and beautifully done. I am sad that you have experienced this, my friend. My imagination cannot comprehend this but I am out of the right words, and at least I know that.
