Notes About The Poem

It's Time To Rumble

Be brave my lads. It's time to rumble
Jump into battle but beware the tumble.
Stay on your toes or you might stumble.
Getting lost will make your owner grumble.

Once you're all inside the enemy's lair
cling to each other so you remain a pair.
There are only two of you - none to spare,
but don't be afraid when he blows hot air.

I pray none of you will be lost in the brawl
after making it through the washer's squall.
Hang in there lads, even if you have to crawl
and soon you'll be set free, one and all.

There's something else I need to mention.
It's very important so pay close attention.
You've been suffering from water retention,
but as you spin, it will lighten your tension.

The dryer's set for one hour on the clock.
Anxiously, I'll wait with each tick and tock,
hoping I'll not lose a member of the flock,
each well-worn warrior, labeled as a sock.

yeah, the old sock trick. I wrote about this a long time ago, but I like the slant you gave it. Very clever. Oh, those dang disappearing socks

Thanks, Andrea. When we think about how many never show up, makes us wonder where could they possibly be?

Thank you, David. It’s amazing how many disappear. I pin them together with safety pins. It works!

I believe there is legislation pending in congress to investigate this very situation. or they are being collected in Washington so that the politicians can all 'PUT A SOCK IN IT!"

LOL John. As long as it takes for anything in Washington to get done, there will be millions more lost socks! I’d love to stuff something down the throats of all those useless dolts. Thanks the read and comments.

I was laugh9ing the entire time I read this! Just remembering every time I put socks in the washing machine, and one sock just disappears! I like how you made it sound like they were pirates of some sort, GREAT WORK!

Ha Arastu. They are soldiers going to war with the clothes dryer. Some of them don’t make it out alive. How in the world do they disappear, never to be found again?? Thanks for enjoying my lines.
