Notes About The Poem

It's Not Love but it Will Suffice

It's Not Love but it Will Suffice

She says, “It’s not love, but it will suffice;
Happiness must be had for what it’s worth.
Let us embrace romance sealed with a kiss
And enjoy the time we have on this Earth.”

I live this sensation called “soul-searching,”
When inspiration is torn from the heart;
Desperation creeps in mercilessly,
And escape to her arms is the answer.

I long for comfort as she calms the din
And rejuvenizes my exhausted brain.
Re-energized, I alight from within
And attempt to climb that mountain again.

    I can’t complain in this, our love affair;
    Our needs are met by using each other.
