down

[ hear the song ]

Listen to poem:
I cannot tell you when it first began.
Long before I broke away — before I ran.
A newborn flame with a radiant glow,
In a sea of bright stars that blaze and flow.

Going down easy — like rivers to the sea.
Drifting through stories that carry all of me.
Going down easy — with no struggle, no plea,
I give in to the current; it sets my soul free.

I sailed through oceans under stormy skies.
Where ancient seafarers sing their cries.
The waves divided — rose to pull me home,
to ride the tide surging on hissing foam.

I dropped maps and clocks from restless hands,
let minutes scatter like golden sands.
I laid down my will — let the surge decide.
On the long, slow, sweeping, easy-going glide.

The tide taught me to yield—not to obey—
to lean with the wind, and dance with its sway.
I go with the flow, through night and day,
and let the waves lift my soul away.

I learned to taste salt in every loss,
That letting go can turn grief into gloss.
It buffs the ache into sturdy re-casts—
In ways that truly refreshes and lasts.

Going down easy — like rivers to the sea,
drifting through stories that carry all of me.
Going down easy — with no struggle, no plea,
I give in to the current, it sets my soul free.

Going down easy—
Going down real easy
Going so easy, forever, with the flow.
