Written 9th March 2025For Write Four Beautiful Lines Poetry Contest Sponsored By Constance La France.

It's the happiest time in a man's life when he becomes a father for the first time. Quote by poet. My wife's said "It's time", so we got in the car and headed for the hospital. She was booked in, and I sat patiently in the waiting room feeling anxious. About an hour later one of the nurses took me down to the delivery suite, after ten minutes anxiety turned to joy when the midwife said, "It's a girl".

Lovely poem about new life Tom…its a girl! However, l think they just had a boy in the picture….blue gift wrapping paper and some brown items! Ha…..maybe not who knows nowadays! Debx

Love it Tom. It's great being a dad and especially wonderful to have a daughter. I really like that you did this and your very subtle suggestion about how fortunate we are to have children. Since "joy" rhymes with boy....I love what you did here! You are one wise person, sir! Smiles!!

So you didn't want to know the sex beforehand. We had our two in 70s. I think they may not have been doing sonograms then because we didn't know what to expect. I was so sure my first was a boy and even the heartbeat was a boys. It turned out to be my beautiful daughter who is such a blessing. My second was the son I always wanted but he had been a disappointment in some ways!
