It Will Be a Sad Halloween
IT WILL BE A SAD HALLOWEEN
Pumpkins!
They are sitting at the counter
In one of those all-night diners
See them through the large front window
Eating donuts sipping cider
A fine young fox is waiting table
Wondering how the pumpkins are able?
Without the street is unlit
(except for the diner sign)
Dark as hell’s pit
Foxy on elbows leans toward the two
Washing dishes a glass or two
He’s telling the boys of a legendary beast
Who on pumpkin’s innards loves to feast
That this is the night of the Pumpkin Eater
(he who is evil)
Favorite son of a garden devil
“He’ll suck out the seeds and the rest of the goo
For some human daddy to make a spook out of you”
Hearing this the boys Bob and Clyde
From orange to white turn in hue
And on a sudden is heard a great roar
That shatters the glass – window and door
Wily fox ducks under the counter
(quite the best thing to do)
A whirling vampire comes into view
The boys Bob and Clyde are stuck to their seats
“Aha!” says P.E. “Something fresh to eat”
When the monster inhales pumpkins fly off their stools
(caught in mid-air)
“Yum yum!” it drools
Like a razor its tongue vacuuming stew
Poor Bob and Ted Wily Fox too
And the next morning lo on the radio
(there is news)
“A mysterious tornado made a hop
Wiping out the entire pumpkin crop”
