Notes About The Poem

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It Was The Little Things
The little things she said,
Quiet affronts,
Reminds me why Jesus bled,
Sin He confronts
The little things she did,
So offensive,
Insults from her lips, slid
Put me on the defensive
The little things, unspoken
Almost like a curse,
Feeling like my heart was broken
Everyday, she’s a little worse
The little things, God told
Were wrong, but still
Because of His heart of gold
I’d need to seek His will
The little things, I must forgive
Because He forgave so much
More than her insults, so resistive
But, God, oh I need Your touch
Touch my heart and make me see,
Beyond the worst humiliation
To the truth in His grace for me,
Listen, He made all of creation…
Here Him speak, His word
Says to love,
Despite the worst you’ve heard
Love is sent from above
Love the one who hurts your pride,
Despite your feelings, who lie
Telling you right is on your side
Let God answer – not an eye for an eye
But, just like Jesus, who died
Giving up His life, for another
In His love, our hearts abide
Seek peace with every brother
The little things might seek retribution
But God…. He says to seek His face
Through His love, His grace, His solution
Love, without conditions, with grace
Yes, the little things might convict her
But you have the answers within
You know, deep inside, love must defer
Give into compassion, forgiving sin
Just like He forgave
Listen, my friend
It’s this truth that can save
You’ll discover, in the end….
Forgiveness is your chance
To be like the One
Who taught your soul to dance
With God’s precious Son!
It's usually the little things that add up... those mundane things that people too often overlook but mean a great deal. Forgiveness is not a little thing, for we cannot be forgiven if we do not forgive many times over. A fine write, Gina.
