Is God a Woman?
Love. Nothing is fair in love and war. Mother carries the load ripped open ripe torn gives birth. Who’s the better stronger one in this war? Puts her child first. Swallows all burning stones thrown ignores trolls, fights all... Child first. First born. (LadyLabyrinth / 2020) gvlm. llb.

no one has the luxury of time my dear Woodrow, so-called "poets", nor the educated / non-educated cum laude elitists...least of all those at ground level on the run surviving depression, trauma *ptsd/cptsd/or other, covid/or not induced unemployment and homelessness, disease, substance abuse/addictions, mental disorders, isolation, family dysfunction, domestic violence, rape, sexual trafficking, child sexual abuse, hunger and extreme poverty and the real wars where women and children carry guns and struggle to stay alive daily in zones where they fight men's wars. With regard to 'women', I hold them so far above men, which is where they truly belong, you can love that or leave it. One man, at least wrote it right. I wouldn't be surprised there are a few others of his ilk existing in our day and age as well. https://www.ling.upenn.edu/courses/hum100/female.html

I understand what you're saying in your poem but one of my pet peeves is when women, in their trials, wish to simply emulate what men have done wrong, like their claims to be god etc.. we can do so much better is my opinion; don't even get me started on the 'so-called' educated elitists who are so depressed! one has to have the luxury of time to contemplate so miserably deeply you follow thru...most working stiffs do not have that luxury and it's again education related.

Woodrow, Re your below responses and commentary. Virginia Woolf & quite a large contingent of highly educated, cultured and wonderful poets/writers (female/male), made their departure sooner than they should have. That is a crying shame. That was their choice and their freedom to choose. Who is to say they were weak in their choice? Perhaps it takes some strength and courage in one's psyche to see that through. I would not recommend it.

This however, is a poem about Woman for women. It is about the strength of women, their durability, their confidence through hardship to survive and lead with their strength. Holistically, it is a poem about 'Survival'. It is also a poem about 'Motherhood'. I am all about Women and I will not invest my time in other women, that through ego and lack of confidence, choose to denigrate other women, to elevate themselves. I would rather invest my time in nurturing, mentoring and collaborating with women to see them stand strong and lead, in all areas of their lives.

We all come from vastly different circumstances in life, with different dynamics in familial relationships and friendships. Some women are totally isolated, lacking the friendships, the support networks and help they sorely need to survive. When one considers the current climate with Pandemic, this would be a very hard set of circumstances to find oneself in... These women (and all women), must always know, somehow, somewhere through whatever means (including poetry/writing and self-expression), that they are not alone. How we choose to deliver our stories, fully rich and real in life or sheer fantasy/escapism, is our own to choose. This is my Anthology and my diary of events for my daughter, my sisters, extended family and friends and this is how I creatively choose to deliver and share my life and my stories.

if I want to leave evidence for my children, I will write them a diary of events...poetry is more my own escape from reality and my indirect notes to them (I expect if i live long enough, I shall have time to elaborate in fuzzy essays lol) ...as to death...it is the ultimate escape and the most enthusiastic escape artists are those like Sylvia :)

Self validation that one exists. When one is dead and buried and off page with their God/gods, the stolen have a record, that there was in deed and in fact, a true mother. A natural unnatural process for self-analysis and recording of evidence.

I get the Camus line of thought. A lot of writers use fiction as a platform to interweave the truth. It is a cathartic coping mechanism to rationalise occurrences in life. A lot of people in life are scared of simplicity (for some it is too confronting) and this is where life turns into a complex maze, sometimes hard for people to escape. Your line of thought logically makes sense, but life answers never always comes out through logic; I understand and empathise with Camus' point of view.

I have a problem with that...why need of fiction to relay truth? Truth is simple but we need to sugarcoat it to the point it is unrecognizable or are we scared that simplicity is too shocking to take or not entertaining enough...Fiction is an escape from reality and truth...or the rationalization of actions we feel society frowns upon..

Ever the diplomat. There are good souls and then there are bad that parade daily to the world, without having given birth to any child of their own, that they are pristine, they manipulate and corrupt mostly tender souls. They are truly evil. Some souls are placed strategically to handle war on all fronts, they are good through and through, and seen as bad. Do you think God has a soul? Irrespective of whether male or female, who birthed God and who birthed that God’s God? Does God have an evil twin, or is God one and the same? God did not birth itself surely? God is surely hormonal, moods come and go, when we are complicit, sunny weather and when we challenge or are perceived as bad, or are just downright ugly bad, stormy weather. I cannot help but to reflect when considering women and children and all they go through (and spare me, men are dealt the same), that God may well be a Mother; not some barren pretender or vengeful recidivist. Regards, Stormy Weather...I am that I am.

all I know is that I would not be worshipping any God that is mere man or woman...too many imperfections in both and our concept of love too small at the moment that we still waste our short lives warring...when one considers that we only use 10% of the brain's gray matter, it's understandable that we have so much more evolving left to do and more solutions to find :)

oh my gawd! Ted Hughes was bloody awful...Plath far better by far and neither of them giving truth to the animals they alluded to...of course he had to say parrots were tarts! lol did he not know that the colorful birds strutting in nature are usually males?! i wish all those who wish to express the qualities of caged animals would at least know their traits well! Tiger and lion indolent but not the jaguar '''jeez loo-weez! lol

Miss Plath went overboard with the dramatics.."his kisses parch?! really? a panther is going to kiss you? hell no!! she needed to study biology before going bonkers with wildlife! lol :) ok let me go read Hughes...and my panthera was based on the silly legend but I respect panthers in nature; would never bloody well wish to kiss them! This is more of the lies I can't stand in poetry. She needed to go to the slums and deal with pimps....they are the panthers you'd never want to kiss! geez!

Hmmm, regarding your Panthera, you may find Plath's "Pursuit" an elightening or not read. I found Hughes "The Jaguar" entertaining.

good grief...I just read that one of hers and it was good but a lie in her case for she was no old hag...well, I guess she stared so hard and saw her wrinkled self that she couldn't face it...one has to have other interests or get bloody neurotic alright...she never did grow old which therefore was her lie - her truth was her fearing age and who does not face that be it a mirror or aching pains etc :)

Love in its purest form is truth. Peace be with you sister. Perhaps the "I Am" in each of us needs to be loved first, to achieve absolute truth. Bless'ed be...

For me it is love, which comes with respect, but we have not reached our full capacities to love because our brains are still mostly unused...truth, unless it is a simple universal one, is too debatable like science and hypotheses which can be swayed to suit the researcher's needs :)

well, straight lines in nature are very rare and unless one stares at the horizon, most lines are curves or wavy or just plain crooked...knowing straight had to come later in my opinion...and as to just versus unjust...well, as animals, one knows what it is to feel pain and because we know it is unpleasant and wouldn't wish it on ourselves, it is natural that one would seek to avoid it by not inflicting it and thus the idea of justice is born. Truth is very much a perspective or point of view of each individual being and their unique experiences in their own environments, or it could be a cumulative one in terms of statistics or trends in populations.

"My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust?" CS Lewis.
