Intransigence

Intransigence- A bold unwillingness to compromise.

Professor:
The intelligent doubt everything- critical thinking is the hallmark of intelligence!
For example- God doesn't exist!

Student: But how do we know that, what is the proof?

Professor:
Well there is no definitive proof, but we have our theories!
It's difficult to understand God as explained in the Bible, it's like a fairy tale,
intelligent people don't believe in the Bible or God. I don't believe in God, so he does not exist.

Student:
Isn't there evidence of design in Nature? Doesn't that imply there is a Designer?

Professor:
No not at all, it's proof of evolution. Life came about by chance, life came from nothing and evolved over millions of years, and formed complex life forms over time, until now, everything that exists today came from nothing!

Student: Ok, but what is the proof? Has science proved somehow that life came from nothing?

Professor: Of course, under controlled experiments, scientists have produced a single cell from nothing, we created an atmosphere, an organic soup, and electrified it at the precise moment and temperature and produced life!

Student: So an atmosphere was created? An ideal situation was simulated? The scientist made it happen! Ok, so who does the scientist represent in that experiment?

Professor: Well, the blind force of chance, of course!

Student: Ok, so what are the mathematical odds of this happening?

Professor: Well, it's been calculated that the odds of this happening are
1 followed by 100 zeros, over millions of years, but that's how it happened!

Student: Ok, does that sound logical, isn't that mathematically impossible?

Professor: Well, all intellectuals believe it, so it must be true. Who are we to argue, it may be hard to understand but we must accept it as a fact.

Student: Hard to understand, huh, so it's kind of like the Bible I guess, hard to understand? I thought you said we must doubt everything, not accept anything blindly, to examine everything critically. How then are we to accept as fact that life came by blind chance if it is mathematically impossible?

Professor: Well obviously you are not intelligent enough if you can't accept what every intelligent person accepts.

Student: So then to summarize, you don't accept that God exists, because the explanations of God in the Bible are hard to understand.

Professor:That's correct!

Student: So then if the argument for life happening by blind chance is difficult to understand...does that mean you don't exist?

Professor: Well you are an insolent creature aren't you!

you took me back to my childhood years, i went to catholic school until middle school then my parents put us in the public schools... the student sounds like me, as i was taught what i was taught in catholic school and there was no proving to me otherwise...i told the teacher perhaps he evolved from an ape and believes in worship of several statues but not me (flunked the class) love the story here :) hugs

That's funny, unfortunately it's elementary school, high school, university, the education system tries to make us believe something unreasonable, and they criticize believers as having blind faith...sounds like what they try to teach requires the same!
