Into Your Eyes

I watched you look into my eyes,
and wished I could feel what was in your soul.
I felt a longing to make it last,
but it wasn't time. And it went by too fast.

Who do you see when I look back at you?
A soul to love? A friend to choose?
What would you do if we had the time?
Talk and explore? Follow some rhyme?

Tell me your name. Tell me your life.
Tell me what brought you here to this night.
Do you dream of possibilities and long for fulfillment?
Or simply feel relief that someone thinks you're still relevant.

I look back into your eyes and see you smile.
I'm glad I'm still relevant at this late hour.
It's for the best that we don't take action,
but enjoy the myth that we're still attractive.

Thanks Skat. I've been composing a new poem that's taken some research and a whole lot of thought. And I really don't know much about structure and format. I've got a couple others in the works as well, but I think I should finish them first, then try and edit them for the best structure they'll fit into. Thanks for your encouragement!

Gregg, a blend of longing, sadness, taking chances, deliberation are imbibed in the lines. Nice flow.. you make feel like that of a lover but thiking twive to proceed because maybe there are blocks. ~Olive Eloisa
