Interview With A Grain of Sand

Me: How did you start out?
Sand: I was born a rock. About 5 inches round and weighting
about a six pounds.

Me: Now did you become just a tiny grain of sand?
How did you get so small?
Sand: I have been in this huge ocean for many years.
The mighty waves have rubbed me down to my small size.

Me: How has your size changed you?
Sand: As a rock I could see more of life. As a tiny grain of sand,
I feel my life could be over soon.

Me: How do you like being on the beach?
Sand: I can feel the warm sun. I love the cool water licking
all over me. Sometimes people step on me.

Me: Does it hurt when people step on you?
Sand: No more. I have gotten use to it.

Me: Thank You for the interview. I wish you good luck.
Sand: I enjoyed talking with some who cares about me. I also wish you good luck.

Paula, this is so touching, moving, and just plain wonderful. I love to collect shells and rocks on the beaches I've been to, even if they are simple & small. I loved how you personified the sand, maybe he will become an amazing sand castle someday, or a breahtaking piece of glass with a million other grains of sand. Everyone will be so proud of him as he will of himself. Your poem reminds me of the story, The Ugly Duckling a little. I just liked this so much, so much, so much.

Interesting Interview ! Really informative. I think you picked the hardest topic, and yet you made it a wonderful exchange of question and answer that kept interest alive to the very end. This is a terrific entry for the contest Paula . Well done.

Ha ha. Pure genius, and so funny. How did you come up with this beauty?. So I'm not the only one who talks to Sand?. Thank you for the laugh, Really had a big impact. So creative, what an amazing imagination. Love it!. A favourite. Hope the grain of sand is doing well, and doesn't end up on a sand pit.

Sometimes we just don't comprehend that most things outside our houses are millions of years old. I suppose we all become a grain of sand at the end.

And why not have an interview with a grain of sand Paula, I find this one really intelligent, with lots of dark humour throughout, amazing how poets find meaning in the practically unseen world, excellent work, cheers David
